Root canal treatment has a reputation it stopped deserving some time ago. With modern anaesthetic the procedure itself is comparable to having a filling - and it is usually the thing that ends the pain that brought you in.

Inside every tooth is a soft core of nerve and blood vessels. When deep decay, a crack or an injury lets bacteria reach it, that tissue becomes infected - which is what produces the deep, throbbing ache, the sensitivity to heat that lingers after the cup is put down, and sometimes swelling in the gum or face. Root canal treatment (from ₱6,500) removes the infected tissue, disinfects and shapes the canals, then seals them so bacteria can't return.
