Preventive Resin Restorations (PRRs) are a minimally invasive approach to treating early signs of tooth decay, particularly in the pits and fissures (grooves) of chewing surfaces, especially in children and adolescents. Instead of a traditional filling that involves removing more tooth structure, PRRs focus on cleaning out the very early decay within these grooves and then sealing the remaining healthy grooves with a tooth-colored resin material. This prevents the decay from progressing and strengthens the tooth surface, acting as a proactive measure against further cavities.
